The Community, our Strength! Nowhere else than UCBC / Beni
The Community, our strength! Nowhere else than UCBC / Beni.
In the first 2018-2019 Work-Program's activity, Staffs and Students teamed up for the sanitation of the Town-Campus, located downtown(few metters from the Nyamwisi roundabout) behind the BCDC (Central Bank of Congo), in front of Dr. Shamavu's home.
The 2018-2019 academic year is the first year through which the Christian Bilingual University of Congo operates with two campuses, in Kipriani and Downtown.
The city of Beni, prey to massacres and wars since 2014, is in a vulnerable position. In addition, since August 2018, the Ebola outbreak has been threatning.
In spite of the situation, new students from different corners of the country (Bunia, Goma, Butembo and Beni) are coming to UCBC for their registration, as a sign of faith, of hope for change and restoration of peace in eastern DR Congo. They were warmly welcomed and their participation was active in this activity, facilitating their integration into the community.
This activity took place on November 20, 2018, from 8:30 to 12:00 local time, in an atmosphere of joy and team-work.
Participants worked on:
- Slashing (cutting-cutting use to mow the lawn)
- Displacement and arrangement of planks and rafters
- Creation of rainwater pipes
- Collection of bags and bottles
- Refurbishment of garbage cans and cleaning
- Painting walls
